Celebrating IWD: Empowerment, Equality, and Inspiration

IWD 2025: A Day to Celebrate Women Empowerment

International Women's Day (IWD) is an important moment to reflect on the progress we've made toward gender equality, recognize the challenges that still lie ahead, and celebrate the incredible achievements of women across the world. At Rebel Nell, IWD is especially significant as it aligns directly with our mission to uplift and empower women. As a women-owned business, we understand the importance of creating opportunities, fostering a supportive community, and accelerating action for meaningful change.

This year, as we celebrate International Women's Day (IWD), we’re excited to focus on the theme of Accelerating Action—a call to accelerate gender parity and create opportunities for all women. We believe that meaningful change is possible when we come together, empower each other, and work to create a world where every woman has access to the tools she needs to succeed.

How Rebel Nell’s Mission Aligns with International Women’s Day

Rebel Nell, a women owned business, was founded with a singular mission: to empower women by providing them with job opportunities and the chance to transform their lives. We do this by hiring women from underserved communities in Detroit, teaching them the skills needed to create beautiful, repurposed jewelry from the city’s graffiti. Through this process, women gain confidence, self-sufficiency, and the financial independence that every woman deserves.

International Women’s Day (IWD) reminds us why our work is so important. It’s about creating access, fostering growth, and ensuring that women’s voices are heard. Just as we empower the women who create our jewelry, we also aim to empower our customers by offering them meaningful, impactful pieces that tell the story of resilience and transformation.

Rebel Nell #AccelerateAction

This year, our IWD celebrations focus on Accelerating Action, a theme that urges all of us to take bold steps toward gender equality. Rebel Nell is doing just that through our mission to provide job opportunities, mentorship, and financial independence for women.

By supporting women-owned businesses and organizations, we help accelerate change within our communities. When women are empowered, entire communities thrive. We believe that the more action we take to support women, the faster we can make a difference. Whether it's providing training to women in our studio or working with partners who are making a positive impact on gender equality, every step we take helps accelerate the journey to a more equitable world.

Rebel Nell’s 5th Annual International Women’s Day Event: Celebrating 80 Years of Rosie the Riveter

On March 20th, we will be hosting Rebel Nell’s 5th Annual International Women’s Day (IWD) Event, celebrating 80 years of Rosie the Riveter. This iconic image has long symbolized the strength, resilience, and determination of women, especially in times of adversity.

Join us as we honor the legacy of Rosie the Riveter, who played a critical role in World War II by working in factories and shipyards, breaking barriers for women in the workforce, during our IWD event. Our event will celebrate these extraordinary women, as well as the women in our own community who continue to inspire us with their determination and drive as leaders in women owned business and advocates for women’s rights.

The evening will include live music, a spotlight on some of the incredible women who are pushing boundaries today, and of course, opportunities to shop Rebel Nell’s latest collections that support women’s empowerment and community development.
